What to Know

A few things to know before you begin your practice with us.

  • Getting started at 34 Pilates Lab begins with an Orientation Package.

This includes two private sessions designed to introduce you to our method, equipment, and class structure.

After completing orientation, you’ll be guided toward the group classes that best suit your body and experience.

  • Our orientation is not an assessment in the traditional sense.

It’s a foundational process that helps you understand how movement is taught in classical Pilates and how to work safely within a group setting.

This ensures consistency, safety, and a better long-term experience for everyone in class.

  • Classical Pilates follows a structured, original system developed by Joseph Pilates.

Rather than focusing on variety or trends, it emphasizes:

    • order and progression

    • precision and control

    • long-term sustainability

At 34 Pilates Lab, we focus on how movement is learned, not just performed.

  • Our group classes are intentionally kept small and follow a consistent format.

Each class builds on the same foundational system, allowing you to develop clarity, confidence, and deeper understanding over time.

This is not a drop-in, random-flow style class.

Structure and continuity are essential to our approach.

  • Classes incorporate classical Pilates apparatus such as:

    • Reformer

    • Tower

    • Chair

Equipment use is introduced gradually during orientation, so you feel confident and supported before entering group practice.

  • We generally require orientation before joining group classes.

This helps maintain a shared understanding of cues, transitions, and safety within the room.

In rare cases, prior classical Pilates experience may be considered, but orientation is still strongly recommended.

  • Wear comfortable, fitted clothing that allows you to move freely and be seen clearly by the instructor.

    Grip socks are recommended.

    No additional equipment is needed.

  • Please let us know during your orientation sessions.

Private orientation allows us to understand your needs and guide you toward the most appropriate class structure.

Some clients may benefit from additional private sessions, which are offered on a limited basis.
